Requiring judicious application in the brew house, Nelson Sauvin is a truly unique dual-purpose variety often utilized for the production of big punchy ales and subtly bitter lagers. While the fruitiness may overpower the un-initiated, the varietal provides bold hop character, applicable to a variety of beer styles such as pale ale IPA, blonde ale and pilsners and seasonal and specialty craft beers. Nelson Sauvin is described as imparting a fresh crushed gooseberry, herbal fruitiness and Sauvignon Blanc flavors and aromas.

Possible Substitutions: Citra, Hallertau Blanc
Application Tip:
For unique meads produced with Orange Blossom honey, dry hop the finished mead for 3 days with a combination of Citra and Nelson Sauvin.
In Pale ales or IPA’s, Nelson Sauvin blends well with Australian Galaxy, Simcoe and Centennial hops.
