With flavors and aromas approximating green tea, lemon, mint and a bit of melon, Lemon Drop can deliver flavors reminiscent of lemon heads candy in an India Pale Lager especially used in the style with a SMaSH formulation. Lemon Drop has become quite popular in the craft industry due to the unique flavor and aroma characteristics of the cultivar.

With fruity and herbal notes, Lemon Drop provides distinctive flavors and aromas for IPA’s Pilsners, Saisons, pale ale and wheat beer styles, especially American versions utilizing the cleaner American Wheat yeast.

Application Tip:

Paired with Amarillo and Simcoe in an IPA, Lemon Drop accentuates the dank citrusy aspects of Simcoe while accentuating the peachy stone fruit aspects of Amarillo. Throw in Columbus for a bittering charge to add pungent, piney counterpoint to the fruitiness of the other three hops while providing pungent backbone to the residual sweetness in the finished beer. Primarily utilized as a flavor and aroma hop and is found often in dry hopping applications.
