With an intense roast flavor, the Brewers Best Russian Imperial Stout recipe kit produces a dark, malty, full-bodied beer. The big malt character imparts a touch of residual sweetness to offset the hop bitterness. Requiring an extended aging period, the Imperial Stout may be matured on an oak alternative such as Oak Chips to add further complexity.
Contents of the kit include: ingredients, bottle caps, priming sugar, and brewing procedures.

Specialty grains: 8 ounces of Caramel 60L; 8 ounces of Roasted Barley; and 8 ounces of Black Patent.
Hops: 1 and 1/2 ounces of Northern Brewer hops (hops may vary due to availability).

Application Tip:
To upgrade the yeast to a liquid culture, purchase the Wyeast 1084 Irish Ale yeast separately. Enhancing the roast notes from the dark malts, the strain, at lower temperatures ferments dry and crisp while at warmer fermentation temperatures the yeast produces more fruity aromas and flavors. (Additional yeast sold separately.)
Alternatively, choose the 1056 American Ale Yeast or the 1728 Scottish Ale yeast as both strains ferment dark worts cleanly, enhancing the flavors and aromas of the dark malts while the 1728 adds smoky notes to the finished beer especially at fermentation temperatures below 60F.
